Cold Weather Advisory and Water Line Responsibilities

01/24/2026

Dear Rockahock Residents,

With very cold weather expected, we want to share an important reminder regarding water line responsibilities and steps you should take to prevent freezing and potential damage.

Tenant Responsibilities
Tenants are responsible for all components connected to the campground water spigot on the tenant side. This includes the hose, fittings, splitters, filters, and all freeze protection beyond the spigot.

Each tenant must:
•Use a heated water hose or a standard hose equipped with approved heat tape
•Insulate and protect the connection point between the hose and the water spigot
•Properly heat-tape and insulate any above-ground water pipes, splitters, filters, and connections
•Regularly inspect their water setup during freezing conditions

Campground Responsibilities
Rockahock Campground is responsible for the water infrastructure on the supply side of the spigot. This includes the piping located inside the pedestal and below ground. Heat tape is installed inside the pedestal to protect the campground’s water line on that side of the spigot.

Important Notice
At this time, Rockahock has no plans to shut off the campground water supply. We understand this has been a concern for many residents. However, with extended freezing temperatures, there is an increased risk of water lines freezing and potentially bursting when temperatures rise again.

Failure to properly protect the tenant-side water connection may result in frozen or damaged lines and may require Rockahock to temporarily shut off water service to individual sites or sections until conditions allow for safe operation and repair.

Be Prepared
As a precaution, we recommend filling a few buckets and keeping bottled water on hand. If you notice any water leaks, frozen lines, downed trees, or power lines, please report them to the office immediately.

We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to get through this cold weather safely.
